The One Who Broke Out of the Mirror

Site-specific sound-scape for Katedralen by Cha Blasco

Sculptures, paintings, light sequences, and the film The One Who Broke Out of the Mirror, together with the sound-scape of Cha Blasco, create an intricate site-specific installation designed for the art gallery. The film is an invitation to social interaction with the sculptures and paintings, or simply to get-together with them.

In this hybrid genre, visitors encounter many of Ockborn’s sculptural works, like The Red Stone, The Red Shadow and The Observer. The characters are played by actors, 3D-scanned animated sculpture as well as the artist's paintings.

In the heart of this entanglements, a story develops about living with mental illness, an aspect of the artist’s identity. The borders separating the fractured and discordant elements that can exist within a person are erased, and they start to merge into each other. Ockborn´s work challenges the possibilities for different realities to coexist simultaneously. If that is the case, how do we deal wit them, and where can the tension about the unknown take us?
